Wisdom on the Courts

As a backup to yesterday’s post, inspiration came today from none other than the Oprah Magazine. An article based on Kim Clijsters comeback story to win the US Open last year, really spoke to me.

In this article Kim said “There’s no such thing as a perfect match…it’s how you cope with the imperfect matches that makes you great”. Just think, with all the imperfection out in the universe, what could be achieved with that attitude?

As someone who has made plenty of mistakes, I like to look at life now as an opportunity, to try things and fail, to experience new ways of being, to roll with the unexpected punches. If anything has taught me anything it’s that we will always keep learning.

What can you do to be the comeback kid in your own life, like Kim did in hers?

Be The Change

One of my favorite quotes from Ghandi is “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. For obvious reasons it’s a very potent concept, but what has me thinking tonight is the simplicity of it too. Without making any grandiose statement, where can I show love in the face of adversity, and where am I already showing love without realizing it?

You don’t have to sit on a mountain top and chant to be the change you want to see, but you can look around you and find someone to love. Find that person who you think needs to ask forgiveness, and instead of asking or even forgiving, try thanking them. Choose peace rather than this, as Dr. Wayne Dyer often says.

There is no such thing as having a perfect day or always doing things right, but there is such a thing as appreciating the perfection in the imperfect, including ourselves.

In order to be the change, start with appreciating the way things are and loving life for that, then see how much love gets returned to you.
